Cyber Alerts – Monthly threats and SOC insights from Pinewood
4 November 2025 | 1 minute read
The threat landscape is evolving at lightning speed. In our latest Cyber Alerts, we highlight the key trends and threats that organizations need to be aware of right now:
- Deepfakes. Hyperrealistic AI audio and video images are no longer just for researchers. Nowadays, almost anyone with a laptop and an internet connection can produce them. Detection remains difficult, which means deepfakes are increasingly being used in identity fraud, social engineering, and other cyberattacks.
- ClickFix & FileFix. In 2025, ClickFix will be one of the most worrying social engineering techniques, along with the related FileFix approach. They exploit human behavior and system functionalities to spread malware, often unseen by traditional security solutions. Both cybercriminals and state actors, such as the North Korean Lazarus group, actively use these methods.
- Developers under fire. Developers are increasingly the target of targeted attacks. Their access to API keys, cloud credentials, and cryptographic tokens makes them attractive to malicious actors. The threat ranges from advanced social engineering to supply chain attacks via popular repositories.
- DDoS attacks break records. Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are reaching unprecedented levels of intensity. The Netherlands is not yet among the most attacked countries, but organizations are increasingly experiencing availability issues due to these attacks.
